Default Fluid for a 4L60E

I have asked this question in another section but got no response so maybe someone in here can help me.
How much fluid does a 4L60E trans hold when changing the filter and fluid, since I can't drain the convertor. I need the EXACT amount since I am installing an after marked dip stick and tube. This is a trans from a 2000 Camero.
Also do you use DextronII ?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Well the exact amount is hard to say somewhere between 4 and 6 quarts, of course this varies with a deep pan or not and how long you actually have the pan off since the converter will drian slowly the whole time. Probably the best way to make sure it to make sure its full before you start then catch what you loose and mesure that amount to go back in, but most aftermarket dipsticks tell you how to set them up to read acuratly in there instructions

Performabuilt, how long would I have to leave the pan off for the convertor to drain completely?
Also do you use Dextron II and if empty including convertor how many quarts does it hold?
Thanks,
Wade

The converter would never empty completely it would only empty till it was even with the snout at inputshaft level

Dextron II has been superceded to Dextron III and yes that is correct.
