the wires taht come off my harness for my passenger side O2 sensor are about 3 feet too long. will i run into any problems (operational) if i shorten them to the needed length? will it affect how the engine runs? do they have to be a certain length?

no problem, shorten them just use good connectors and heat shrink to seal it
