Default trouble ?

So, the Monte is road worthy.. almost, i have a problem.. It's an edelbrock carb on an edelbrock manifold.. when I step on the brake it sounds like I have an exhaust leak and the idle drops a couple hundred rpm.. What did I miss ?

Could the booster be bad? That will cause the problem you are describing.

I wondered the same.. it was a vacuum leak, completely unrelated to the brakes.. stepping on the brakes made it loud enough to hear. it was the rubber cap on the timed advance port. it cracked...found it after work today. nice looking Monte ya got there !

Thanks, it was trashed when I got it. It sat in the Texas sun for a couple of years and everything on it had to be reworked. I am doing the carb swap myself right now, as well as heads and cam. I can't wait to get it back on the road.
