Default home done Window tint.??

anybody ever do their own window tint? I just did some on my truck and it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I got some of the best stuff walmart had. yeah yeah Im not so sure that I got the best stuff. Somehow I've got a gouge in it Im not thinking its very strong stuff.

So im wondering what other stuff is out there and how hard a newer z28 rear window is to tint?

I am not sure if the Wal-Mart stuff is as good as the tint the shops use. I know when they get the multi-directional bends in the windows they usually have to use a heat gun to lay the tint down properly. I will do cars and trucks with straight windows myself. But the back window on my Z, I paid to have done in one piece. Looks great and worth it IMO.

My friend does professional window tinting. It's much more difficult than it looks, and forget about the back window. There is a trick to the back window of the F-Body that generally only the pros know. For $150 and a lifetime warranty? Leave it to the pros.

Sounds like a secret society or something. The trick is just on how you shrink the corners down so it fits rounded with a single large piece of tint.

It totally depends where you live. If you live in an area that is sunny a lot like florida tinting is much cheaper! I live in illinois and not many people get tinting done so it is much more expensive! I personally taught myself how to do tinting but that was after many vehicles and rolls of tint! I took my first trans am to florida on a vacation and while i was there i got all my windows tinted for only $125.00 (except the windshield of course) but here in illinois they wanted $300.00 to do the back window alone! Basically check with your local tint shop on price, and if youve never done it before and you want a nice job the first time take it to a shop. You should at least have the back window done by a shop its incredibly hard to do properly!

my Z had the back window done already at 35%(illegal in MN) but since i've NEVER been bugged about 35% i'm gonna hit the door glass soon with 35% it's not that hard to do, just be patient and get ALL the bubbles out. I've done a few cars and only messed up on my GTP when i had it. The Camaro's door glass looks easy so i'm not worried. The back window needs to be done by the pro's as that is a bitch

SLVR_99-Z ~~~ i got mine done in St. Cloud. At a truck accessories store. They actually have a guy come in and do it. For a coupe he charges like 175-200 and for a sedan about 250-300. Does nice work though. Can't remember the number to the place though
