Default ran 11's 4l60e paid the price

okay i just got into the 11's this last sunday, i ran an 11.89 at 117. the only problem my transmission broke. right after the run i lost 3rd and 4th gear and had to drive home in 2nd. which was a lond 25 mile drive. i just had the transmission rebuilt for the second time. which cost 2k each time. the guy said that the transmission would hold 500hp, but apparently its not. my shift points are set at 6800rpm. and both times that my transmission broke i've lost the 3, 4 gears, i was told by a guy at the track that the 4l60 can't handle shifts at those high rpm's does anyone have experience with how much a 4l60 can handle and what the max shift points should be. the builder said that the clutches were being blown out the back of the transmission. i'm not a transmission guy so i don't really understand what he meant by that. any help would be appreciated. by the way i have a tci 4000 stall with no lock up.

A 4l60e should be able to handle shifting at that rpm if its built right, and 500 hp and a high 11s car should not be a problem either ,Sorry your trans died though im sure it makes you

hey performabuilt i've actually been looking at buying a th 400 from you guys. do you guys have direct bolt in ones because i was told by american transmissions that putting a th 400 in a camaro would be too hard because the 4l60e is controlled electronically and the 400 is controlled manually or mechanically, question is will it bolt right in and do you guys sell them with line lock, also how much hp is the 400 rated for, by the way that 4l60e that broke had stock cluthces but beefed up everything else the builder said the clutches looked fine so there was no need in replacing them. the problem is the teeth on the drum are breaking and clutches are getting blown out.
