Is it possible to get the gauges to max out and return to normal when you turn on the car, like in Z06s? If it is, what would you have to do?

stock-i dunno. But when you have your gauges converted to a 200mph gauge through that one company, they also install this feature. They call it "vette sweep". Pretty nice little bonus if you ask me plus it eases the $300+ price.

Just run your battery down VERY low..just enough to start the car, and they'll do it
But on a serious note, I had a zo6 a few months back and thought that was a pretty kewl 'racey' feature they did with the car. My guess was to calibrate the gauges on startup...since those cars are extremely 'techy' for a chevrolet.
I know theres some other models that do it...my fiance's dads grand am does it.

Thats what I was going to say. Mine started doing "the sweep". Thought it was cool, but it also resets the trip meter. Car got hard to start, replaced the battery and no more "sweep"

no. if that were true the trip would reset everytime you pull the cluster, and im pretty sure that doesn't happen.

It's kinda cool but IMO not worth trying to do, not like it's gonna add 50 hp or something

i was told the vette sweep is just a self test thats programmed in to the computer that runs on startup. is that true? can you program that into any other car ecu? or something?
i dont want to go cutting wires testing this out so if someone could post a proven reliable way for it to work then that'd be awesome.

I believe it has something to do with a mechanical gauge, these types of gauges or a little more accurate. The sweep is for calibration purposes, I knew exactly the reason back when I was in school. I believe it might also have something to do with a self-test. With the Tech 2 you can have the gauges do a sweep to check the gauge cluster. I’ll see if I can find out the full reason since I think I’m leaving out some reasons or the real purpose.
