Default 3channel rear into a 4 channel car

OK I have read the sticky's about this and I still need help.
I am getting a 12 bolt moser from a guy in my area. The rear is a 3 channel and my car is a 4 channel. What do I need to do for this to work? My car currently has the stock 10 bolt in it.
I have looked all over the boards here and have seen three of four different answers, so please help.

All that you have to do is take the backing plates & reluctor rings from your 10 bolt's axles and install them onto the 12 bolt axles.

That seams way to easy. That will really work? Not to sound like a idiot or anything but i HAVE NEVER DONE A SWAP LIKE THIS, i would have thought that the pieces off of the 10 bolt would not fit onto the 12 bolt.
Is that really all there is to it?

I just did the same exact swap you are talking about!! I took the reluctor rings off of my 10 bolt, and went to put them on my 12 bolts 33 spline axles, but they wouldn't fit I brought them to a machinist and he machined a spacer to go inside the reluctor ring, and go on the axle to make up the difference since my 12 bolt axles didn't have the hub like the 10 bolt axles. Good Luck

My 10 bolt reluctors worked on mine - it may have been 31 spline though.

I just did the swap, 3 channel LT1 to 4 channel, actually no ABS for the LT1, so I didnt have to plug the holes. if it has 33 spline axles, send them to moser, with the reluctor ring if you can stand having your car on jack stands.

I paid for new ones, and the other mint 10 bolt it replaced with be sold with them, so thats why I didnt reuse.

Email them and they will give you the shipping address and instructions, I wrote mine out and sent them. I also had the bearings un pressed since I had LT1 backing plate.

Came back mint and I installed. Worked perfect!
