I believe it. That's a BIG cam and he's got LS6 heads. The heads alone give him a 20 rwhp head start over LS1 heads. I've tuned a few T-Rex cam only LS1 headed cars (FAST 90/90, headers with HVMC) and gotten over 450 rwhp so 460ish with LS6 heads is believable.

Ive heard the rumors about the dyno that was used too. Not sure how much truth is in that claim though. Either way good numbers.
Id still take a way smaller cam with a decent set of heads over that giant cam any day.

I can see it. It's a vette too. They seem to be dynoing higher than our f-bodys.

I dunno I had 243 heads and I gained maybe 10 hp.
Maybe the dyno needs to be re calibrated or something.....Hard to believe, but look at T56 Rebuilds.com's car it was pushing almost 500 rwhp cam only.

Vettes dyno higher when they run long tubeheaders with HVMCs like the LG Pro long tubes. :) Us F-body guys don't have near as good of exhaust as the Y-body crowd. :(

I've found Vette's have always dyno'd higher.Anything is believable nowadays. The sad part is that we've dyno'd alot of these high hp cars from other shops and they lose a ton on our dyno.

Biggest difference is what you use it for. If you dont care about low end torque go the cheap route, if you want it and still want to make power up top, you have to set the combo up to work together. I agree with him, I would much rather my setup and the low end it has over a high end screamer, but I drive my car on the street 99% of the time and 1% at the track.

It aint about peak HP man. :) There are other things such as drivability issues that big cam only setups just dont have for the most part.
I like to spend my $$ on a well thought out setup, not a cam only setup. Just one mans opinion, none of you should care what i do with my $$ anyway.

It is fun spending money on a better driving car rather than a big peak hp street dog. Im not saying that the car in this thread is like that but that is the case with lots of cam only cars. Either way dude made big numbers.

I totally believe it. I am making 431 with the same cam, same dyno, LS1 heads, and LS6 intake. Numbers seem on point for the mods. Nice numbers man.

lol @ sorta. My car drives like stock just more powerful, I can shift at under 2k in all gears with no issues at all. Most cam only setups you will not shift at 2k without some nice bucking and surging.

Well I dont quite have the tune it needs yet hence the surging at low rpm. But 3k rpm and north is like a drug...you just cant get enough :)

with a 393, 90/90, stage II ls6 heads, M6, ls7 clutch, safe tune ~510 rwhp. Since then the heads have been changed. I now have AS stage 2.5 5.3 heads and upped SRC from 11:1 to 12.5:1, went to an aluminum flywheel, yella terra, and switched from 1 3/4 hookers to 1 7/8 kooks. I expect to be north of 550rwhp when tuned. I LOVE this cam. I just needs a good tune. At 3000rpm V-tech kicks in :jest: Turns from docile to an animal

LOl @ vtec:jest: yeah the trex on a 393 isnt nearly as radical as it is on a 346. nice numbers.

The trex or MS4 would probably be my cam of choice on a 402 or something of similiar displacement.

I believe it...the thread said 453 after SAE correction. He's got better heads, a bigger cam, and probably better tuning than me (I tune myself) so I can see a 25 RWHP gain.

Nope. I'm not sure who started this internet fallacy.....There is NO more loss due to drivetrain than a 10 bolt F-bod. In fact Id counter that they lose LESS through the drivetrain. Add that to the better exhaust system found in the vette and vettes dyno HIGHER than F-bods....

We just did a 2002 Camaro M6 with only the following mods. Lid, 1 3/4" Hooker Headers, Off road y-pipe, SLP loudmouth and the MS4 cam. It dynoed 422 rwhp STD cam only and 412 rwhp SAE. It dynoed 329 rwhp before the cam. The Z06's with boltons are around 370-390 RWHP.

I know dyno jets dyno higher, but this jet must of thought it was christmas giving out #'s like that. Speed inc's dyno jet had my car at 423hp 407tq. The mustang dyno i go to now put me at 370hp 350tq.....big difference. The only change i had was going from 3.73's to 4.11's. I did finally get to 463hp 414tq after alot of changes on that pesky stang dyno.
