I checked my RPO codes on my 2000 SS and it was missing the RPO code for the performance suspension package. does my car have it since it has the SS package? or is my car just run of the mill on the suspension?

The Bilstein Level II shocks were an option. Check your SLP supplemental door jamb sticker and look underneath. Yellow shocks = Bilstein Orange = stock DeCarbon.

The 'SS package started with the basic suspension upgrade (from the z28 level....stiffer shocks, thicker front sway bar, jounce spacers in the rear), and the Bilstein performance and level 2 (Koni adjustable shocks) were available as SLP installed options (required the y2y option code on the master code sticker on the driver's door jamb, and the option sticker on the passenger door jamb).

^^^^^ That is correct, but you can have the Y2Y code and NOT have any SLP options. The Y2Y code means that the car is suitable for the SLP options. If the passenger door sticker is not there (and the obvious options) the car has no SLP options.

ya, my car doesn't have an SLP sticker. the previous owner was a middle aged high school teacher, and a woman. She didn't do anything to the car at all, not even the lid. got the car completely stock except for the K&N air filter.

My 01 Z-28 came with the Performance Ride and Handling package...

I have compared and it's identical the the SS cars with the DeCarbons and such.

it's a real SS, I think it was made at the factory and not at SLP. it doesn't have the Y2Y code on the RPO sticket. It does have the WU8 code tho.

Y2Y just means that it was suitable for SLP options. There has been debates back and forth on the LS1 SS's and where they were all built, the last consensus I read was that they had all gone to SLP regardless of options.

All SS cars were finished at SLP regardless of the y2y code. The y2y (especially during the last year) signalled that the car was to receive the additional content. It was said that GM mandated that y2y was to have been added to all of the remaining orders towards the end of the run in '02 to avoid confusion about options ordered. SLP installed and painted the specific 'SS hood, spoiler, installed the additional content if ordered, and assigned a build index number to all (there may have been rare exceptions where one or two were missed at the end of the production run as I've heard) 'SS, 'RS and Firehawks.

My understanding was the SS's (at least the 99s) came with 1le springs and swaybars but had to go to SLP to get the bilsteins otherwise it was decarbon. I know I read someting like that somewhere.
