New LS1 Owners - Newbie Tech - Trans Am rear logo....

Hey guys I just want to make sure before I order a replacement that in fact EVERY color Trans Am came from the factory with a red "Trans Am" and bird logo on the black part between the taillights. Of course excluding special edition like the CETA which I know came with a silver (shiny) one. So if you own a T/A please chime in and confirm that your rear logo between the taillights is in fact red......Thanks in advance

Mine is white but I do have a 30th annv car.
I believe all others have red.
The NHRA edition had a different filler silver I think.

The factory one is not a decal, you would have to buy a filler panel if you want GM.

Mine is very much red, on both my old firebird and now my TA

for a 100% GM original look just get the center peice replaced, i am sure its probably less than 100 from any dealer

Not all birds came from the factory w/ red lettered filler panels. If i remember right, 2000-2002 definately were red (unless it was a special edition vehicle), '99, i'm not sure, and some '98's, like mine, came factory w/ gold letterd center fillers. But yours "should" be red.

Are you sure it came from the factory that way? That looks too good for GM to have done it. :jest:

I am the second owner. Bought it from a little old man w/ 28,000 miles on it. Bone stock. It still has the original pads and rotors on it. There is another one like mine that rolls to the local car show. I saw it when he first picked it up from the dealer and got it home. His is also gold from the factory, not changed at the dealer. There was a post about this on another LS1 site last year, if I can find it, i will post a link. Thats where I learned that some '98's had them gold instead of red. I knew that all '99 and up I always saw red ones. I don't see many '98's around, but I do know of one other besides me that's gold. Anyone else got one? I wouldn't mind getting some more info w/ some numbers or any info. This may sound dumb, but I do know that some early production '98's came w/ headrests from the LT1 cars, could it be a leftover from a '97-earlier TA from the factory that they wanted to use up? Over the years, many car companies have put parts from other year cars on the newer cars if they ran out or want to use some things up. I would like to hear if there are more people on here w/ it. We may get more answers if we ask this in the appearance section
