Default Factory Freak???

I have a 02 WS6 BONE STOCK!! car.Now I have read about some vehicles that have a little more power than others, but they did not give much detail on how their car acted. What first got me thinking was a 97 LT1 Z/28 and I were messing around( he has headers and full aftermarket exhaust plus a tune)he was in front of me and punched it at 60mph I punched mine right after and had to slam my brakes so I would not hit him and I had only hit 65-67mph. Second>> I ran into a Black 99 Ls1 Trans Am it was not a WS6 ,but did have a aftermarket exhaust and sounded very nice.We raced twice from 60-130 mph and I smoked it both times and it was not close( First race I was at their back bumper when they punched it and still had 2-3 cars on them???
I have driven a couple of LS1 cars and they would bark second(a4 like mine),but my car will break loose from 25-35mph and kick hard left even with new tires. I have had bullshit called a couple of times until I took em for a ride.

i base on how strong a car is by track times not street races.

if youre not the original owner of your car its possible TM was removed or a mild TC was added. that could be why your car breaks loose easy. it could also be your tires are worn more than other ls1s youve driven.

run it and find out.

Are you the first owner? If not, the previous owner may have had their hands in/on it.

I am the original owner. It broke em loose even with new tires I have Falken GR 275/40zr-17 all around it which is a good tire. Well since I live in Arkansas now I do not trust anyone here to dyno my car. There are a couple of shops here, but they pretty much serve rice at those places and I would not trust them with my LS1. I don't think there are any 1/4 mile tracks in AR?

An 1/8 mile track can give you a good idea of how it performs.

Those "Factory Freak" cars you speak of usually dyno 10-20 more horse than average. Such as a stock a4 will be around 285-300 a freak would be 310-320. So that isnt gonna make the difference of a close race and a slaughter. Drag or dyno it, if it is 310 its strong running, if its 340, id call that a freak.

01s and 02s are faster than the years before. Not all LS1s are created equal. between 98 and 02 they have different heads, cam, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds, cat setup, etc. Don't let anyone tell you they are all the same. You don't have a freak, you have one of the fastest two years of f-body built

I don't care what anyone else says, 01 02 cars run much better than <2000. I have been at the track when my car was stock and went 13.5 @ 105.5 and there was a stock 99A4 WS6 on drs and he went 14.1-14.2 @ 101 all night then there was a 99 Z28M6 with no cats, drs, headers, lid, and he when a best of 13.6 @ 104 so go figure, plus the fact that I do a lot of street racing, but thats just what I see, so I would say your car is about avg.

Seriously, your 241 heads and LS6 intake are superior to the 853 heads and LS1 intake. It is said that the LS6 intake can make upwards of 15hp over the LS1 intake so it's only normal for 01 and 02 to make at LEAST that much more power. The 241 heads offer a little more, the different cam has a slightly better powerband but it isn't much of a factor. The exhaust manifold design offers power gains almost comparable to a set of shorty headers. 01 and 02 owners have it good. Anybody that says any different is ignoring that facts.

Yup, 01 and 02 surely lucked out with the stock LS6 intake, and even SOMETIMES the LS6 heads! Lucky bastards!

the ws6 driver drives like ****.

the 99 ws6 did NOT run a 14.2 because it's a 99.

A race with you slapping down a 97 isn't a big deal no matter what it has for headers and an exaust and certianly doesnt prove you have a freak. Those lt1's put about 248 to the wheels.

Beating the 99 is due to you having better heads and an intake. Now maybe your car has a bigger stall, maybe not, but there is absolutely not proof in your evidence of you having a factory freak.

You really have to run that thing at a track.
My car went 13.2 at 108, with only a SLP lid and K&N. 100% stock everything else, 2001 Z28, it had 15k miles on it. Would you consider that a "factory freak"?

people must understand something about the valley, cars here run slower than anywhere else, we have the worst air, at the track i go to it is not uncomman to see 14 sec pass for ls1 or ls2 powered cars, out of towners always bitch about there times at that track.

the valley's air actually isn't bad at all, I race in Colorado during the summer when I visit cousins. pretty much 14 flat when I was stock. In the valley I ran 12.9 stock, and I am talking no cat back or lid, just the free mods, If you're at any of the strips in california and you run a 14 only three things could have happened. Something wrong with your car, something wrong with your launch, or you can't drive. My little cousin didn't pull of a 14 in my car and she doesn't drive stick that often

Come on now, it's not THAT bad here.

My one and only run at Famoso netted me a 14.0@100mph, and that was with a transmission that refused to shift into 3rd until I let off to 1/2 throttle.

Believe me, there had to be something wrong with that WS6 if I can run a better time with a @#$#ed up transmission, and with me getting half way off the gas after bouncing off the limiter a few times.

Too bad I couldn't get another run in, I was <.3 behind the Camaro in the next lane until the stupid transmission decided to sit and bang the limiter, and he ran 13.3@105.

We'll see how bad it is at the next open test & tune, but sadly by that time I'll have a little more into my pos slow '99

Vert with a 2.6 60' running 13.2? Not calling bs but my goodness that is moving for that kind of sixty.

I've seen a stock '01 run 13.0 flat on a good 60, on street tires.
