Not sure if this is the right section, but no actual racing has gone on yet, so I didnt want to post in the Street Kills section. I haven't even had my SS a week and I already have 3 potential races lined up. I was just wondering what you guys think. My 98 is bone stock w/ just a KN filter, and I have been called out first by a full bolt on 99 GT with 4.56 gears Also a 99 Cobra with a o/r xpipe, flows, and 3.73's, and a 2004 SRT4 with CAI, bov, boost controller 18-20psi. Any thoughts? Should I wait till I get some mods before I try my luck? I plan on getting LT's ory and a catback ASAP, but I think I will run them before then.

I would race them...so what if you lose. Thats why most of us mod our cars in the first place

Not really worried about losing, just curious as to what y'all would do. I think the Cobra I can take, the GT with those gears is a toss up, if he gets traction I'm toast, and the SRT I'm pretty sure will get me. I guess Im suprised is all that I got this much interest so quick. I atleast thought I could throw a couple of mods on there before anybody took notice of the new car. But there arent many Fbods where I live, so that might explain it.

Are you racing from a dig or a roll?………..from a dig you’ll have the cobra and the SRT4, the GT with those gears will get the jump on you off the line if he gets traction but you’ll pass him no problem if the race is long enough. If you’re racing from a roll I wouldn’t worry much about the GT or the cobra…..the SRT4 can probably take you if he’s really running that kind of boost.

But hey…only one real way to find out

If you lose, don’t sweat it……..consider it a base run for your fairly stock car, start modding and run them again, I’ll bet the out come will be different

No body wants to run from a dig around here unfortunately. I wish they did cuz with this auto they would have a tough time. Even from a roll that GT might edge me out, he claims 280ish rwhp, so with those gears and the weight advantage....who knows. The Cobra I think might be a good first race for the car, maybe 30ish roll or something.

Go for it, depending on how you stand up those guys, you can get a good general idea of what you're expecting from the car, if you haven't yet.

There's nothing but rice around here. It get's really boring, however nobody really wants to take on my SS. All I have is a intake and exhaust so I don't know why they aren't dumb enough to think they stand a chance.

I think someone around here has already made fools of them with an LSx.

I've only had one little civic stand up to me, and you could tell that he had only installed his first mod: the fart cannon. Needless to say, he refused to stop next to me at the next light. Instead he stopped behind me so he wouldn't have to put up with me and my GF heckling him.

the SRT4 is the only one i'd seriously worry about as at that boost he will pull up top. The Cobra is good too but i don't see him taking you. The GT you should beat BUT if you spin to much or he hooks you won't hang down low. if he roll races ya you should have him. my experiences with all 3 types: SRT4 mildly/moderatly modded, Good race from a 30 roll, right next to each other to 110. Toasted him from a dig. Cobra(raced him the day i bought my Z) raced from a 60 roll and we were dead even 'til 125 and he started to creep. From a dig again i toasted him He had headers, exhaust, intake, chip. Full Bolt on's, tune, gears GT raced from a dig and he got me off the line the first time and i had my nose at his front rim and couldn't pull away i kinda botched the launch) told him it wouldn't happen again and he gave me a rematch twice and both times i got him outta the hole and he sat at my back bumper with neither of us pulling. Happened the same way both rematches. he was real cool and said he liked me Z and was surprised. i was more surprised the fact that he hung with me You should have some good races with them. Get them on video. If you loose to any, you will get the itch to mod
P.S.

Line em up and run em! It's only going to make you want to mod alot. LS1's respond great to mods. A stall would be a great investment you'd love.

I agree, a stall will be a great investment.......also, get a tune so you can change your shift points and disable Torque Managment

GT you will beat, SRT4 you will beat and the cobra will be a run for your money if he can drive good, but losing is only going to tell you where you stand, who cares if you lose i never care just lets me know where i stand

The race being a 1/4 mile the GT would be toast, the other two should be close, IMO.

What kind of 1/4 mile numbers would that SRT4 be doing, any guesses?

Id say low to mid 13s or even high 12s(Driver Dependent)

Regardless, the bottom line is throw some mods at it and say goodbye to almost any previous competition.
