Default Thunder Racing Complete Gear Package for GM 7.5" 10 Bolt

I'm looking to purchase the Complete Gear Package for GM 7.5" 10 Bolt from Thunder Racing and wondering if the upgrade is worth it. I would be going with the 3.73 gear ratio and the kit seems it will add some strength to the rear end, though it's not a 9" or 12 bolt.. I just don't have the money for that.

The package comes with;

MOTIVE Gears, in your choice of ratio...3.42, 3.73, 3.90 or 4.10
Or, STRANGE Gears (2 or 3 series carrier) for $35 additional
RATECH Complete Gear Installation Kit
2 Quarts RED LINE or ROYAL PURPLE Synthetic Gear Oil
1 Bottle GM Limited Slip Differential Additive
TA Performance Rear End Cover Girdle Engraved w/Thunder Racing Logo
TA Performance Stud Kit

Sorry if this is a repost - I tried searching but only gives me a blank page.

I think it's worth it. I would throw in a solid pinion racer, only an extra $25 i believe.

Are the strange gears worth it? Not alot extra, just curious if they're just a name or actual quality?

If you took a poll you would probably hear 50/50 Strange vs. Motive.

From what I hear Strange makes less noise.

I'm getting that same kit w/ 4.10's installed on a spare rear now. Kit looks pretty good to me, I say go for it.

I have had problems with Ratech parts. I recommend Genuine GM bearings period. JMHO. GM crush sleeve, pinion bearing, pinion nut, etc.

GM and Ratech do not make bearings. If you have a choice I would reccomend Timken bearings. All the major brands are good, Korean bearings are usually junk, with chinese right behind. US, japanese are both pretty good.

timkin makes gm's bearings
yes the kit is worth it
the solid pinnion spacer is a pain in the *** to get set rite
it involves taking the rear end apart several time to get rite
because basicly you cant go off of the used crush sleve
you have to assembly the rear end pinnion depth has to be rite and back lash has to be rite with new crush sleve used with the proper turning torque of the pinnion as well then take it all apart mesure the new crush sleve that has been crushed and shim the solid spacer to the same measure ment.
it works well when set up rite just takes for ever
