Have an opportunity to get a great deal on a set of these. I am in the middle of a head swap..TEA 5.3L...and have a TR224. What is the normal application for these? Is this overkill? What are the benefits?

Are you talking about the street/strip version?

I do think it is a little overkill for what you are doing. The stock rockers are actually quite good.

The Jesel S/S setup does take some time to get the geometry and preload correct. It's not as simple as the factory rocker setup and they are not adjustable. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />

Thanks Jason! You always have information to help with my decision. I was wondering about the setup of these rockers. I am doing good enough just getting the heads swapped.

Would you upgrade to the jessel SS rockers if you were me for my new MTI 427 LQ4 motor which will stay naturally aspirated but will use aggressive S1 cam with .612 lift, or is this a waste of $ and our the stock rockers fine for my application which will see HARD STREET use and ocassional drag strip use.

I have heard a few horror stories about the stock rockers spitting the needle bearings when subjected to higher spring pressures and high RPM use. I know that there are plenty of folks out there that have never had any problems with this, but I'd really rather not take a chance on needle bearings floating around in my motor.

Additionally, the Jesels have roller tips on them that reduce valve stem/valve guide wear.

Why not spend the additional money and get the T&D's which are adjustable? You can get the preload perfect, and you are set if you decide to go solid later on.

I have heard of guy's running the Jesel S/S version and just shimming for the lash with the non-adjustable version to save some $ and it worked out perfect with no problems, Craig did tell me about this... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Jesel does make a adj. same as the T&D version also FYI... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

I like the Jesel non-adjustables for this reason, and this reason only: you'll NEVER have to mess with them. Sure, setting them up (read: getting the correct pushrod length) may be a pain in the @$$ the first time, but after that the only way that your valvetrain is going to come out of adjustment is if you take it apart or suffer a SERIOUS failure.

I have run my share of valves, and it's an absolute PITA, IMO. I'm all about the idea of "set and forget". Of course, if you're one of the folks that likes to swap cams as often as most people vacuum their living room rug, then adjustables may not be a bad idea.

From what i am reading here for those who have responded, it seems like the general consensus is to go ahead and spend the extra $500.00 or so, to upgrade to the Jessel SS rockers over the stock rockers, for my new MTI 427 LQ4 Motor. I guess if i have gone this far may as well take it to the next level with this rocker upgrade. You guys agree?
