Default Issues with crank position relearn

Going to post this here as well as in the PCM section as it has to do with a swap harness. I had a 1336 code pop up earlier this week. Went to try and get my crank position relearn done today but couldn't get anything accomplished. The car was reading on the laptop that it was doing 1-2MPH when revved when it clearly isn't moving. LoL. Unplugged the VSS to kill all signal and it still could not run the relearn. I'm assuming it might be because the PCM doesn't know the car is in "Park" as I don't have a late model park/neutral position switch hooked up. Is this needed or do I have another problem elsewhere? Fairly frustrated with this.

Thanks guys

I found this through searching the forums. On anothe rboard soemone also said they had to have the parking brake applied before the learn would take place. How the heck do I indicate to the PCM that the brake is applied? Isn't that through the old donor cars BCM - now long gone?

Well, here's the instructions using HPTuners I believe:

Open the scanner, pick displays, VCM controls:

CASE Learn: To use the CASE learn function please follow these steps:

1. Put the vehicle into park (auto) or neutral (manual).
2. Turn off all accessories and A/C.
3. Apply the parking brake.
4. Press the brake pedal. Keep the brake pedal depressed during the entire procedure.
5. Press Begin.
6. Gradually rev the vehicle to fuel cutoff (around 4000-5000 RPM's) over a period of about 4 seconds. When fuel cuts out, immediately release the throttle.
7. Allow the engine to come back to an idle.
8. Turn the ignition off for at least 15 seconds. This step is required for the VCM to store the newly learned configuration.

they tell you to apply the parking brake as a safety issue, it really just needs to see the brake switch input and the ECT needs to be atleast 150degrees F. did you disconnect the PCM with the key in the ON position or disconnect the battery with the key on?

The pcm does not see a park brake input. The vss will usually always show a mile or two worth of speed when reving the engine. With a tech 2 it will allow you to directly access the crank learn procedure wo any problems.
