Noob Oil Pump Install question
hello, just got my new LT1 motor back from the machine shop, Looks great, however, the oil pump was given to me in the box with no instructions. I've never replaced one before. Does it have some sort of seal? or is it just metal on metal, Also what is the torque specs on the bolt? Is there anything else I need to worry about?
Thanks
Thanks

there is no seal since it doesnt matter much if it leaks. Just make sure its nice and snug. Put the plastic retainer and shaft on the pump before you screw everything down. Also you may need a new pump filter. I recieved a high flow oil pump when i got my motor back and just decided to use the old one instead of the high flow. You could blow seals cause of the high pressure buildup.

I wouldnt use the plastic connector for the oil pump drive shaft. You can pic up a moroso or similiar one for like $10-15 bucks, good insurance. You are right about not wanting to use a high pressure pump, you want to use a high volume pump but then you need a bigger oil pan. No seal on the metal to metal connection, and the Torque spec is 65 Ft.Lbs.
