Default Keeping stock shifter for conversion

I asked this on the autotranny forum as well. I have an automatic BMW that I want to swap out with an LSX motor and a built auto tranny. Can I use my stock shifter for this? Thanks in advance.

Does the stock shifter use a cable or a rod? In either case I think you should be able to use it. You may have to make a custom lever for the trans and experiment with different lengths to get the trans gear positions to align with the shifter detents
