Default 4" stroke question..

i see that stock rod lengths are 6.100"...but with a 4" stroke, would a 6.125 rod push the piston above the block? i know i'm a newbie, but i'm just thinking, what's the advantage of running a 6.125 rod?

The rod is longer, but the pin location in the piston is changed to accomodate the correct piston height.

Right the pistons are made for the stroke and rod length.

but doesn't that make less material between the pin and the ringlands (sp?)

Yes, but there is still plenty of rook for a "normal" ring stack.
