2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500KR
Ford and Carroll Shelby revive yet another great performance moniker - the GT500 KR (King of the Road) - for 2008. Modifications to the 5.4-liter supercharged V8 allow the engine to produce 540 hp and 510 lb-ft, coupled through a Tremec 6-speed transmission. A retuned suspension package, consisting of unique springs, dampers and a strut tower brace, help the new KR handle better than its ancestor. Shelby tops it off with a carbon-fiber hood that emulates KRs of days past. The GT500 KR goes on sale in spring of 2008, but act fast - only 1000 will be built.

There's already a thread going on SSU in the garage section about this waste of money. This will be locked quickly. I don't see why anyone would spend 60k on a ford that will pull a 12 when they can get a Z06 good for 11's that looks 10000000 times better and isn't a poser shelby.

man I just don't get ford sometimes, damnit the flashiness is nice but just make them faster guys, to much cash for little gain especially when the competition is kicking *** in the speed to cash ratio

alright, eventhough i own a mustang, ill admit that that car is slow as hell for that money. but the potential in that car is ridiclous, there are some gt500s out there with small boltons, doing 10's with traction problems, and others with just a new, bigger blower and tune, making 780 wheel, its a good car if you have some money, and want serious power and everyday driveability. plus who the hell would expect some older guy drivin a stock lookin shelby, to be packin 800 hp and drivin it like a taurus. that cars sick.

****, I like it. And I like it alot!! Is it over priced? I guess it really doesn't matter what I think as I'll bet that Ford sells all 1000 of them. I don't blame them one bit for bringing these to market. Say what you want the Ford Mustang is a very successful car. I own two Corvettes, two 69 Camaros, a 69 Mustang Mach 1 and a few forth gens and I don't mind giving credit where credit is due.

The part I don't like is they're using the shelby name where its not deserved. The only true shelby's on the road are the cars of the 60's and the Series 1. Everything else is just shelby whoring out his name to make a quick buck. If they renamed it without the shelby part I may not be so critical, but until then, well, you know where I stand.
