Default People w/a catch can is there a oil smell?

Just wondering if the people running a catch can are getting that oil/crankcase smell in the car? I am running open pcv system right now and the smell is too much to take.Looking for a alternate meathod.

I just removed the PCV line at the intake and used that to operate my wastegate and boost gauge. I ran a 3/8 hose from the stock PCV valve over to the inlet on one of the turbos. Seems to work fine. I've got a filter/seperator for an air compressor that I am going to try as a catch can to make sure no oil is been fed into the turbo.

No. Valve cover breathers are a more likely culprit for the smell.

yup. that was the cause of my problems when I was running a blower. I used a valve cover breather with a 5/8" hose port and ran that hose to the inlet of the blower. vacuum created by the blower inlet sucked all that smelly air into the combustion chamber.

I have my crank case vent system set up the same way on my turbo setup now without any smell. Plus it's a good way to evac crank case gases/pressure.

something like this: http://store.summitracing.com/partde...art=MRG%2D2059

I have run searches till I am blue in the face but this seems the most logical. Any issues with oil getting in to the turbo? Are you also running a catch can with that set-up? Any pics handy?
Thanks!

I don't have any oil problems... The valve cover is baffled. The breather is baffled too... I don't run a catch can because I've never had any oil in the line, ever.

I have no good pics of it either. The line actually goes back behind the intake, wraps around, and comes out up front. The majority of it is hidden anyway.

I'd run a catch can if the valve cover were stock of if the breather wasn't baffled.

I'm going to run a filter because oil mist in the air stream can cause detonation from what I've read. For the 15 minutes and 20 bucks it costs to be sure, it's worth it.

i suck crankcase fumes from my valley cover to in front of the turbo, and also have a little crankcase blow off valve on one valvecover.

Thanks guys! I got a plan together now. Where did you get the valve at Mightymouse?
I am going to put the valve on the driver's valve cover, Block the back nipple on the pass, and then connect the front pass nipple to my valley nipple and then to the turbo. That should cure the smell and any pressure build up under boost.

i made it out of a regular breather, it seals under vacuum and vents under any positive pressure
