Default Tranny pros 70E non sensor type

transo go HD question.Does the 1-2 shift valve that comes in the kit do any more than just hold 2nd gear? reason I ask is because i have a complete kit minus that valve.I figured it would be ok to use minus the valve. Thanks

It allows the manual hold down of first gear at any speed. But yes you can use the rest of the kit minus that valve ,

I would use them if they are available but if not you should be fine .I am not sure what your speaking of on the clutch spings you would need to be more specific on what and where they are

One more thing performa
If you dont mind me asking, do you recommend leaving out the 3-4 plate return springs?

Use the HI rev springs if you have it that far apart if not then do not bother,
As for the 3-4 plate return springs Thats a little controversial , We do use them in our LS1 transmissions only because they can and do rev so high, Some people say they arent needed or even bad, We have not had any issue with using them , But heres what they do so you can decide , Because of the shape and fliuld circuit for the 3-4 clutch some fuild leaks into the 3-4 clutch all the time but it is vented through a check valve in the drum , However at very high RPM the amount of fluild there though not being supplied with enough presure to apply the clutch still may be able to because if it cant vent fast enough the centrifuge effect will press it against the wall in the chamber and it will try to travel both up and down in the piston chamber , It cant travel down as thats solid but the piston can move and through that centrifuge effect enough upwards presure may be attained to partially apply the 3-4 clutch In lets say first gear as you aproach 6500 RPM and burn the 3-4 clutches,
This does not appear to be and issue with cars that will stay under 6000 rpm , But since many with the LSX engines go much higher they help to prevent this effect,
The is also why you hear that HI rpm kills 4l60e transmission, 1 is because of the pump slide reducing presure at Hi rpm but the other is this as i have just explained.
So you decide if your gonna always stay under 6000 I would leave them out , If not I would put them in but if you do use them also use the largest hole size for the 3-4 clutch feed as they do soften the apply somewhat when used.
Hope this helps and for anyone who has a different veiw feel free to post but I wont debate it lol , This is just how we do it and it work well for us,
