Question 408 or 402 w/ 5.3L heads

I've been searching and can't find exactly what I'm looking for.

I've tossing around the idea of a 408 or 402 lately and can't decide if the heads I have would work well on the larger cubes.

The heads I have are old PRC 5.3's milled .010 and flow I think 298 @ .600. It's not the greatest but if I had them reworked for the larger bore (ie larger valves and open the combustion chamber) would they flow better and be worth if for me to use?

Those that have 400+ cubes with 5.3L heads, did they work well for you or acheive the goal you were looking for?

Thanks

The 243's will flow a bit better than your 5.3's but 300 cfm on a 402 will make very good power and torque.
What are your HP goals?
If you want to give me a call I can go over this with you, advise is free.

I guess since I have an A4 and stall size can vary your RWHP, I would say whatever the equivalent is to around 500 thru an M6 for now. I'm not real picky though. I was just wanting to replace the stock bottom end for something bigger and maybe rework the heads if its worth it. Otherwise I'd wait til I could get new heads. Right now I have most bolt ons and LS6 intake and MS3 cam. I would like to have something in the 6 sec time (1/8 mile) without max effort using what I've got. I was running 7.30s cam only no problem.
