How much of a gain? worth it?
Not my car,but my buddies 2001 Z06. (so stock Ls6 heads that came w/ it and stock LS6 intake that came w/ it) His mods are:LT headers, Xpipe to Borla stingers catback, Veraram intake, cam around 221/222 .563/.581, and a dynotune. He is wondering how much he would gain and if its worth it to pay labor to put in a underdrive pulley. I told him on a stock car they should be good for ~8 rwhp, so his car should gain maybe 12 rwhp ? also he has a stock TB, and he was wondering how good the stock 01 Z06 one is, and if it would be worth a few hundred bucks to get an aftermarket one and what rwhp gains he would see other than throttle response.
thanks
thanks

I don't know about the pulley. You can port and polish the stock throttle body very nicely. Or if he can't take it off and have the car down for a couple of weeks just buy a used one from somebody on here or CF and swap it.

Probably worth less than 10 RWHP....for the amount of money the labor would cost it probably doesn't pay until he wants to change cams or upgrade timing belt or water pump and do it at the same time.

Hardly worth it however I did mine.. but only 'cuz the stock one was wabbling and had to come out anyway. I also did the overdrive pulley on the alt. but the "suggested" belt was a bit too long, so then I got then next size down (1/2" less) and struggled to get it on. The tensioner went from one end, to the other. w/e

are you guys sure about that? anyone else? how could he only gain 10 rwhp from a pulley and TB when many companies *claim*12 hp+ just for their pullies? wouldnt it be at least 13-15 rwhp w/ both of these? AND the car isnt stock...?
bottom line, he wants more power. and i told hm a FAST intake would be a waste of money, unless ported but still not really worth it...

No way in hell would I do that unless I had it apart for some other reason... You have to pull all kinds of **** off not to mention removing the steering rack. Not worth 8-12 hp. Now if he decides to get a real camshaft, then do it at that time.

I'd only do the underdrive pulley if I were having a cam installed ..
Never on its own...
If he's going through the trouble for the pulley...
Might as well go for a larger cam....
224/228 114lsa at a minimum..
Tell him not to forget about swapping out those valve springs at proper intervals....(especially if he bought the package already installed on the car when he bought it)
Maybe a new set of TSP Cnc LS6 heads with new vavle springs before a pulley install..?
