Default Swapping motors

I recently had some engine problems and im in process of taking out my motor. I was wondering though, i was considering swapping to a ls6, and need to know if it would be cool to use the flywheel and balancer off of my motor now, or would i have to buy a new one(ie. is it internaly or ext. balanced). thanks

Both the LS1 and LS6 are internally balanced, so you could reuse the flywheel and ballancer. Any new engine will come with a ballancer on it. You do realize that you can basically make your ls1 int a LS6 if you want? An ls6 is basically an upgraded LS1. You could add a cam and put on ls6 heads & intake and have essentially the same thing. For allot less work and money

A crate motor may make things easier for you.
If you are planning major mods in the future this would be a good time to switch over to the LQ4 iron block.
