Manual Transmission - reverse lock out solenoid

can someone tell me how to check if it's working?
How to change it and the part # ?

the shifter won't go in reverse unless I use both hands when the car is off and when it's on it will go in reverse but would not go all the way and the car doesn't move at all

I had this problem and spent about 2 weeks going over the wires, looking up the diagrams, and testing stuff in my car. Everything tested good but it just didn't work. I disconnected my battery for a couple days while doing something else to my car and to my surprise the next time I drove my car it was working again. I don't know what caused it but if everything checks out then try disconnecting the battery for a couple days.
