New C7 Z06 w/700HP N/A!
Was checking out the latest issue of MotorTrend when I ran across a small article about plans for the new generation C7 that's scheduled to be released in 2010. Seems that GM is pushing for a 700hp "Monster" that will be natural aspirated. If this holds true, this will no doubt me a 10 sec beast "stock" starigt off the show room floor. GM will definately have an answer for the upcoming 600hp Viper!
I didn't see anything about pricing, but my guess it will be somewhat comparable to the new Viper pricing, low to mid $90K. What you guys think?

I think we all are going to need boost to keep up with this "BEAST" - even the current C6 Z06. Who would've thought just a few years ago one could walk into a typical dealership and drive off with a 500, 600, now in a couple years 700hp vehicle. This new era of musclecars is better than the '60 and '70. Only an opinion.

If that's actually true, looks like I'll have to do some type of 427 build up so I don't get blown away. I actually have a lot of mods planned for the next few years including a new motor. To many new cars are coming out with good horsepower, 400 RWHP doesn't sound like much anymore.

I just wish they'd stop changing the body styles on these damn things. It's gonna be a pain in the *** if you have to buy a $90k vehicle every 5 years just to stay updated. What happend with the vette body styles running for 8 to 10 years? That's a lot easier to keep up with.

I just looked at the newest copy of motor trend and I saw nothing about a 700hp corvette

It's in their...But it was basically a rumor..Just asmall 2 inch block with plans for the 2010 C7Z06..Nonthing actually official..
And who'd want a 650 HP SS when a 700 HP Z06 is about to arrive???
So Im pretty sure it's nonthing official as of yet..Would be awesome though..But dang 90 grand for a Vette?????
Atleaste with the 90 grand Viper your getting a rare car that is only available as a coupe/vert V10 that they make 1,500 of a year..
You pay 90 grand for a vette and you look like a guy driving one of the other 30 thousand 2010 50 grand C7's that year...
Hopefully GM has learned it's lesson and will make the Z06 version actually look different than the base vette this time..
Cas the c5Z06 and C6Z06 look far to much like their base brothers...
Man i cant wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ive read in a few different mags that the 08 Viper is underrated and actually more like 620 HP..Meaning it should dyno right around 550 rwhp...So Im guessing 11.2 at 130 mph as an average magazine time. Enough to trounce the C6Z06 but it should get it's a$$ handed if they actually build this new 700 HP Z06..

I read that they were building a 650hp vette and it was gonna be supercharged-it was going to be a variation of the LS-2 motor(less than 400ci) and weigh 200lbs less than the current ZO-6. They just weren't releasing the name for it yet. Whatever the configuration, it ought to be a bad-***!!! Meanwhile, back at Ford camp-the idiots are releasing a . . . . hold your breath, 400 earth shattering hp 281 cubic inch monster capable of producing 390lb.ft. of torque!!! Available in the 2008-2009 special edition Bullitt mustang . . .WOW!!!What a bunch of assbags. Who the hell is running ford-Forrest Gump!!! If they don't do something, all of you chevy guys are only gonna have competition from the chrysler guys.

Sorry guys I guessed I should've mentioned that the article can be found on page 19 of the current Motor Trend edition. However, after reading the piece, it states where Jim Queen who is GM's VP of Global Production Development has told Motor Trend that the next C7 will be naturally aspirated with HP around the 700 mark. The way the article reads leads the reader to believe that this is something already in teh works and not just rumor.

You guys ever heard of Mechadyne out of the UK. They're the company that designed the variable valve timing used in the Viper. VVT has finally arrived for the pushrod community. It will be a scary world to see domestic pushrod cars idling like kittens and making peak power at 7000rpm or even 8000rpm+ like Ferraris. It will probably be the end of OHC. Why use 4 cams when you can use 1 and still have vvt? I wish I could buy stocks with them.
