scavenge pump for turbo...return to pan?

Default scavenge pump for turbo...return to pan?

I have read a couple times on here that people tap the pans and return the oil drain from the pump there. What is the benefit in doing that, other then it keeps more oil in the pan rather then in the top of the motor? I know sts uses the valve covers because they are easy to get to, but Ive got the motor out of the car and can put a fitting in the pan no problem.

I'd return to the pan just for cleanliness if for no other reason! I'm returning to the oil fill cap right now but I will relocate to the pan at first opportunity!

If my motor ever comes out, my return line will be relocated to the oil pan. Simpler, easeir. IMO, the STS kit uses the valve cover because it does not require removal of the oil pan.

I am going to do it reguardless but was wondering if there was any benefits that I was overlooking.

well your not pumping all that extra hot oil into the head... that a good enough benifit for you?

Im going to a us e a pump and bring it into the valve cover for now.. when i pull the motor i will do a gravity to the pan... but cant do that in car soo...

pan is always the "best" if you can..

also the oil kinda spurts from the drain into the valvecover making a kinda mist that the pcv can pickup if you have one connected

I went to the pan with mine, but I'll be the first to say I had to do it twice. The first time, the threads stripped out and I had a major oil leak, and I mean major!!!! Luckily caught it quick before I lost all my oil and then went back and did it the right way. Weld the fitting in and you'll be alot happier and you'll have that piece of mind that you don't have to worry about losing your investment due to loss of oil pressure.

its up to you the oil cap works fine and is easy, the oil pan works fine and is not hard but time consuming.
