Default lt1 with ls1 driveshaft

i got a 97z a4, and a trans shop is installing my new performabuilt tmission and i gave them a aluminum ls1 ds and they said they wouldnt install it because its approx 7/8" shorter, but they didnt try to install it? its from a 02 ls1 i think he might be on crack but ill find out tomorrow, and if it is shorter how low can i go before its not usuable? i bought it off ebay, i know its a ls1 ds because its got the three lakes sticker in the middle of it where it was made by union workers

I have an ls1 driveshaft on my 97 lt1. Its a direct swap shouldn't be a problem.

They are interchangeable. I've had an aluminum LS1 driveshaft in my 94 LT1 for 150k miles.
