Default Can any of you ex mustang 5.0 guy help me out

I was helping my brother-in-law with his project, a 90 mustang 5.0 lx. We got it together and started it up and the headers instantly went red hot. here is the specs of what we did
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Combo is AFR 165 heads, TFS stage one cam, Cobra Intake, duel roller timing chain, crane 1.6 roller rockers( stud mount)

CAr starts right up but the headers are red hot seconds after the car starts.
I Have checked the timing 100 times and it looks to be right on at about 16*with the Spout out. I checked for a spun balancer (brand new) and that looks okay too. I didn't use a TDC stop but I brought the engine to TDC by the air from the number one cylinder. Balancer was right at zero when the air stopped.

Dizzy is also brand new MSD pro Billet...checked with stock Dizzy and that didn't work either.

Ran it with open headers and they are still red hot instantly on start up.

The heads are brand new. Rockers were adjusted 1/2 turn past zero lash. Cam was degreed and installed straight up. Measured for pushrod length.

I have a rail mounted fuel pressure guage and it is showing plenty of pressure.

Check engine light comes on but I can't leave the car running long enough to retrieve them.

Any help would be appreciated.

I worked on this for the last 3 days and I am out of ideas
thanks

Timing should be at 10 degree's with the spout out.

the same thing happened with my friend's car. the timing was all screwed up because he put the distributor cap on 180* from where it was supposed to be.

did u change injectors to a larger set at the same time? if you did you also have to change to a matching mass air flow. seen this happen once before. person changed to a 36lbs injector and still used the 19lbs mass air flow. headers were cherry hot quick! changed maff to a 36lbs unit and no more problems.

like the 2 guys above me said.....check your fuel output. A major lean condition is the only thing that would make your headers go red hot like that since you have already made sure there was no blockage.

what type of injectors and mass air are you running?

10 degrees of timing is way too low for a built motor. timing will vary between 14-18 degrees depending on the type of fuel you run.

A major rich condition can do it also. I tend to think its timming or real rich. When you installed the cam please tell me that you degreed the cam and please tell me you didnt just install it straight up.
