Default dyno #'s after lt4 hot cam kit

Went to dyno yesterday, done 3 runs only gained 3hp from the lt4 hot cam kit, very mad and disappointed, we were ready to leave when the dyno operator discovered he had left the emergency brake on for all 3 runs so after we released the brake and ran it it had gained 42hp and 18lb of torque taking it from 260 to 302. Also does anyone know what we will pick up after we install the lt4 heads we ordered? Thanks

The LT4 heads need the LT4 intake. running them stock with that cam you might hit 330rwhp get them ported and run a bigger or custom cam you will make some good numbers

Dynoes are like apples, they are all a little different.
I have heard stories of cars getting different results on various dynoes, and in the meantime not changing their car any.
I gotta ask snk, when you hit 260, was that with your longtubes and 1.6 rr's?

True statement. I've always dyno'd on a DynoJet. Tulsa dyno and Ed Wright both use them so i was luck they were ALMOST the same numbers on both.

The 260 was with headers only we reached 302 after the hot cam kit and my car is an a4, I should have had the dyno dude keep the other runs on the sheet so I could show yall how bad he messed up, also on the 4th run the car was pretty hot, I may have gotten more than the 302.

When you install the heads swap the cam out for a 230/236. I bet it'd put down 340-350 with a good tune

he's on a stock short block and we all know how they act different from motor to motor. It is good considering where he was before.....Look at his first number.

Stock m6 lt1 cars dyno around 240-250 stock autos dyno between 225-235 We have had 7 of these cars stock and with full bolt ons and all lt1's are 275 crank hp how did you get that much hp from a cam that puts down around 30hp and headers that give around 12 andan exhaust maybe 5 that's a totalof about 42hp but we'll say 50 over stock should have put you at around 295-300, how do guys get so much more hp from the same parts on the same motor?? Tell me the secret. Or just let me use your dyno guy. We had a full bolt on 97 camaro ss m6 that only had 282 at the rear wheels.

I have all the supporting mods, 32# inj, 52mm TB, NGK TR6 plugs, underdrive pulleys, CC PRO MAG 1.6 RR, EWP, MAC Mid-lengths, no cat, no egr, Good tune from Ion @ Madz28.com, and I have a strange S60 rear end w/3.73s. Im looking for a good set of heads right now. I should make around 385-395 rwhp with a good tune. So if someone knows were i can get a stock set of LT1 heads for cheap to send off to get P&P let me know.

If you're running 302 on the STOCK tune, you're doin good. I don't know how many ponies I freed up from the my own tune, but I tell you what, I sure can feel it and I'm running rich (bad right O2 I think).

What I'd do in your shoes, is get some 24# SVO's (25.5# @ 40psi) like I did (stock on most new Mustangs, so people upgrading should be selling them cheap), a tune, and a Adjustable regulator (to adjust the injector flow up or down, however you want. @ 45psi you'll run around 26-27# on the SVO), and a CAI if you don't already. And since you have a 4L60E, you can tune in tranny pressure too for better, quicker, shifts. Something I wish I could do :\

I don't have the time, place, or money to do a cam, stall or heads. So I do all the cheap/free mods I can. I got my SVO's for like $60, I already had my 58mm TBody from my TPI (haven't gotten around to installing yet), and I found a place that sells the LT1 regulator for $67.

Note: You can call me crazy for advising to get a AFPR, and say how it won't help any, but when I toyed with the one on my 91 TPI, I could tell the difference. I ran it @ 45PSI which made a noticeable response difference. So I'm speaking for experience, not LT1, but still it's experience.

Take a look at this thread, how did you get 288 from the same set up and he only got 236?

Yah I went to the dyno finally today. Not to impressed but hey it was fun as hell. The numbers are 236 hp and 261tq at the wheels with a cai and open cutout. Without the cut out it was 225 hp 260 tq. Time for some more modding. I have a vid too that ill post up soon.

Well its a good thing he figured out he left your e-brake on. To bad he burned up your rear rotors and pads. You better have him pay for new ones, and a brake fluid flush..

BTW- Im cam only- stock fuel system.. - well I was when i made the dyno pulls anyway..
