Smile Starting second cam install tommorrow.

Well never thought I would be doing another one of these, but my 98SS was destroyed by that 80 year old man back on 9-18-06, so I picked up this 2000 in late December and decided to do everything at once instead of over a six year period. First cam install went okay, had some major issues but thanx to the members on this site they were all worked out, I feel very excited and confident getting into this starting tommorrow 04-14-07, I'm going bigger than my last cam of 221/221 558/558 114 Lunati, I see since my last cam install, everyone has been going bigger and calling the type of cam I'm using still streetable, with good drivability, with plenty of power, so I'm going Comp Cams Extreme, 224/230 581/592 114 LSA with Patriot LS6 Stage 2 heads,Futral 7.4 length hardened pushrods,GM Factory Gaskets,LS2 Timing Chain,LS6 Oil pump,ARP Head bolts, from my research looks like I should just be able to dissasemble and reassemble without any cam or head clearance issues. I'll keep everyone posted.

Can I borrow your time machine just for a bit?

Good luck on the cam swap. It's much easier the second time around, then easier the third, and fourth...

Good luck. I did better on my first swap. Second time around I was helping a buddy (also a member here) and we rounded off a rocker arm bolt with a 12 point socket and couldn't get the stupid thing off.

Don't use 12 pount sockets, they are evil!

Good luck, just finished up helping a buddy, I've done a quite a few cam installs, but this time we did heads as well and it was easy. Hardest part of the whole install was getting the oil pump pickup tube bolt out/in. We stretched it out over a few days but if we worked straight through it would have probably taken about 10-12 hours.

Ooops, I didn't get started yet, my truck has decided to act up, can't in good faith, tear one vehicle while the other one is not running correctly. I'm shooting for Thursday to get started. I will update when I get started for sure.
