Default Torquer V.3 owners chime in!!

well i just bought the TSP Torquer V.3
any one have any info, warnings, advise...
ill be installing it myself in a week and was hoping someone would have some helpfull info. one major concern i have is pushrod length. TSP said stock 7.4 was fine but through reserch on the forum i've heard that it may require longer rods. any one know?
also looking for some dyno sheets and sound clips email em if possible mead955i@iwgi.net

I to just purchased Torquer V3 haven't installed it yet, but i am going to very soon. People have different opinions about which length pushrod to get. I found a solution to satisfy my own curiosity, and is to get a pushrod length checker. Go to ISKYcams.com and you will locate the tool in the tools section. By the way great choice on the cam, great minds think alike.

You might need two different length pushrods- one for the intake lobes and one for the exhaust lobes.

yea, thats what i heard. needing different lengths for intake and exhaust. i was thinking 7.425 exhaust 7.450 intake?

Measure them, only way to know for sure. To many variables involved to trust this to internet strangers. Are there going to be PTV issues with this cam and the heads you have?

umm. i was told that there are no PTVC issues as long as your using stock heads and gaskets. the only problem i got is that im istalling all this at once so i guess that would mean that i would have to install everything, measure and then order the pushrods. damn thats gonna take a minute

i just ordered the tsp h/c package.... tq v.3 and stage 2.5 5.3 liter heads tsp informed me that the 7.4 will work just fine with gm headgaskets and the heads not being milled... But to each his own everyone has a different opinion only way to know is check it yourself or if someone has installed that cam

try and look up fratsit if i remember correct he had a torquer V3 with the LS1 intake, and he made i think 384 HP can't remember the TQ, but i'm sure it was pleasing for a cam only car.

I have the t3 with the 2.5 5.3's from tsp. I used the 7.4 rod length with the GM mls gaskets from tsp. I have no problems. My car made 406wrhp with 376 tq. I had to leave it there because I had a little detonation up top. I need to get better plugs to fix this issue. Also, that was through a ls6 intake and stock pulley. The car will have about 430 in it when I get the underdrive pulley and FAST intake setup...

thanks Prin. i was thinking about getting the pump since ill be down there but my car only has 21,000 mi on it. is it really nessisary?

I have the Tv3 and 5.3 2.5 heads. I used 7.4 pushrods and I have less valve train noise than when I had my tr224. I say go with the 7.4 pushrods you'll be fine. With the mods in my sig I put down 400rwhp and 360rwtq. No track times yet as my trans is slipping.

Those are some really good number you guys put down with the Torquer V3, but my question is, is there lost horsepower in to short of a pushrod? Correct me if i'm wrong because i'm am a noobie to all this valvetrain stuff. The intake lift on the Torquer V3 is 0.644" and the Exhaust lift is 0.598" now if you where to go with to short of a pushrod wouldn't that stop you from getting max lift? max lift on the intake meaning more air in, max lift on the exhaust meaning more air out. all in all more horsepower right?

i'm going to use a pushrod length checker to determine the exact length that i need. I hear of alot of people using the 7.400 and getting good results, but i just want the most possible hp i can get for the bucks that i spend.

Do you have a tune, ppl with the smaller (like 228R) are putting down 430/390 with the same set-up...

I just had the torquer 3 installed about two weeks ago with 7.4 pushrods, dual springs, ls6 ported oil pump. car has pacesetter headers, ory, lm 1. The car put down 403 rwh and 379 rwt sae corrected through an m6 with stock rear. The car has a true dual system now, so not sure if those numbers would change any. Overall, I am happy with the cam, it has great power, and sounds good on a 111 lsa. I am just a little dissapointed with the tune that I have. When I start the car in the morning, it will sit at 1300 rpms, and go down to 1100 after a few minutes. The car bucks if the rps get below 1300-1400 rpms. Also sometimes when I come to a stop the rps surge between 400-1500 rpms. I just sent a pm to the installer/tuner to see how we can take care of these issues. other than that, I woudl highly reccomend this cam to anyone. I daily drive this car, and can put up with these problems. I can't wait until they are fixed so that it will drive like stock again.
