my basement is a bathtub
the sink the sump pump feeding into wasn't draining fast enough, so we decided to try to run the sump pump up through the basement window but it wasn't strong enough.
thank god for the pump i had sitting around for an inground pool. that sucker did the trick.
anyone else enjoying noah's flood?

My basement flooded every spring... Last year I dug up the foundation all the way around the house. New foundation drains, resealed the entire foundation, lots of crushed stone and sand. Finally no more water problems!

the finished part of my basement is raised a couple inches so that's a plus. it was alot easier than digging and reinforcing the **** out of a foundation that is structurally sound.

I left for work this morning, the whole road was flooded, like about 1 foot deep, I saw a minivan go through it but stayed in the middle of the road, so I attemp, I thought I was going to be stuck... like wtf. I put it in 1st and just railed the gas. I got through but I had water on the clutch, it was slippy for the rest of the ride to work but then it chilled out and was fine.
Def scary though.

I had one of those basement companies come out last year and put drains in along the walls incase water seeps through them. Also have two pumps with back-up batteries sending water out. So far so good! The road down the street from the shop is gone. The ocean when right over it early this morning. Plenty of rocks there now!

Yeah I've got a small puddle in the utility closet in the basement, which soaked a section of the carpet in the finished part. So the wet/dry vac has been getting a workout when I'm home. Compared to what others have gone through though, I can't complain. Only time I get water is in these 100 year storms (which happened 2 Octobers ago, so maybe they should call them 2 year storms cause they happen alot more now!). I'm actually at about the highest part in my development, but when they built it they didn't bother to put any kind of drainage on the side streets. So the water just sits on my lawn and in my driveway and seeps down.
