Default The TSP 5.3 Heads stage 2.5 and MS3 camshaft for a 01 z06?

Looking to put this combo on a 01 z06 and was wondering if anyone has any track times with it and what theyve gotten out of it? Are the 5.3 heads a good choice since i wish to use spray to get myself in the nines if thats possible on stock block? thanks.

i have a friend who has those heads with CHEATER cam in his Lumina SS (Gto)
through A4 the car 392rwhp no track times yet but i thought those great dyno numbers with MS3 in zo6 i think you can get low 11 maybe high 10 if you can drive and get traction

But 9sec will be very hard you will need alot of other stuff.

You need way way more for 9's, that head/cam set-up WILL no doubt be low-mid 11's with a tune and a GOOD driver

Then i think you should get TSP Torquer V3 231/234 .643"/.598" 111 LSA
2300-6700 RPM its a great cam with those heads.

and yes its possible with good driving there is alot of guys running 10s cam only but they have very light cars like your ZO6

the ms3 cam has a low dcr so the low end suffers unless you flycut the pistons and mill the heads down, with my ms3 and 5.3 heads my car has nothing below 4k rpms, to give you an idea from 4k to 4.7k my car picks up 100rwhp, below 4k there is little power, my last z06 had a smaller 228/232 cam and it had about 20 more hp and tq down low with about the same numbers up top

Keep in mind that the Z06's transmission is different and it basicly has the equvilant of 3.90's.

Anyways, if your looking for 9's you should really look to something else than a stock casting head. Also plan to spary in the neighborhood of a 200 shot.

Build everything else up first. I know its no fun, but so is getting all that power and breaking something that should of been upgraded to begin with. Make sure the clutch and the rest of the driveline could take the abuse, along with the traction for 9's. Also make sure the fuel system is up for the task of using nitrous. Keep in mind that for reliability sake I would go with atleast a forged piston.

For the heads and cam, the heads are gona come down to how much you want to spend, and the cam is gona come down to how friendly you want to car to drive.

i have this combo in my ride....made 461 @ the wheels...have not hit the track yet though ( I will this weekend, 1/8th mile though)....shooting for high 11's (in the 1/4, I am still refining my 60 ft)
I will tell you that the tune is a bit of a bear. My tuner and I are still working on it...but it is getting there....as far as seat of the pants...you better hold on dude...
to be honest, I am not sure why everyone doubts the MS3 and these heads below 3k rpm....if I downshift into 2nd going say 40 and nail it....dude...I **** myself...

just be prepared to make power all the way to 7k rpms and get a good freaking tune!

I have one of the early Torquer Cams 233/233 .595 .595 112 and I love it down low. I made 401HP with a A-4. I am going to be installing a set of Dart 205cc heads soon.

Good luck with what ever you get.

Bill
