Default Good stiff springs?

What is a good stiff spring with only a 1" drop? I'm not a millionaire either so what's the best bang for your buck.

Best bang for the buck?

www(dot)pitstopusa(dot)com(slash)SearchResult.aspx ?CategoryID=3691
adjustable lower spring mount - $72

www(dot)pitstopusa(dot)com(slash)SearchResult.aspx ?CategoryID=3581
2.5" springs (chose any rate you want) - $82

www(dot)pitstopusa(dot)com(slash)SearchResult.aspx ?CategoryID=4562
5.5" "pigtail" rear springs (chose any rate you want) - 88

So, for $250 you can have a true, adjustable ride height coil over shock package at almost any spring rate you desire.

Thanx for posting that helpful advice. I'm kinda a noob when it comes to suspension. Not sure how that installs, any more info would be helpful.

Hey Mitch, can the rear Koni SA shocks be converted to a coilover? I think the shock body would need to have a groove cut in it for a snap ring or does it?

Anything can be done with a welder and plasma cutter.

When are you gonna stop bench racing on the internet and actually get behind the wheel and put all this "knowledge" to practice?

"welder and plasma cutter"? None of that should be used. I was thinking the shock could be mounted in a lathe and spun while a cutting tool makes a notch for a snap ring. I know new notches can be cut on the front Koni shocks, but I'm not sure about the rear.

What do you mean by that?

I never see you at an event or seen you post your personal results. So, do you actually compete somewhere? Maybe I'll see you at TWS this weekend?

And my welder and plasma cutter comment was tongue in cheek. Lighten up a bit.

I don't compete. I just tool back and forth to work in it. It's my daily driver.

I did swap in some new 19's on it. I haven't really even driven the car since I got all 4 19's on it. Darn rear end chipped a tooth. It's getting fixed right now. I haven't even seen it in a week. Last gears in it were 3.73 and I could barely tell the difference over the stock 3.42's. This time I'm going with 4.10's.

I also want to add suspension travel (compression) to the front and rear of my already 1.5" lowered car. I'm going old school like the guys who would channel their cars over the frame except I'm trying to do the same concept with a unibody design. I plan to fab up some 2" drop spindles and mod the sheetmetal to tuck the tires really high into the fenders. I'm also working on modding the rear axle to move about 2" higher than stock as well. I've yet to see anyone do this so I'll probably be the first. I'll probably have quite a bit of sheetmetal to cut and weld, but it will be worth it. I can finally get rid of that passenger side hump in the floor as well.

So I do have a lot of stuff planned, but most of it will be for 2008 and I'll do what I can this year. I don't have any deadlines. Well, I did get an offer to have my car in a calender and the deadline is coming up. I need to get my Raptor hood modded and painted so the car at least looks decent. Aside from that I really enjoy figuring things out and making things. I guess that's bench racing on the internet, but hey, nothing wrong with that.
