Default Vroom Vroom, but no GO GO

I just put the trans back into my 94 Z28, and Im having problems. Its an automatic by the way. When I put the converter in the trans I rocked it back and forth so it seemed to be where it should be. There was fluid inside it, maybe a quart, and I put about six quarts of full synthetic down the tube. Thats about a quart less than what I was told to put in, but when I check the level cold its showing the level to be high. About two thirds up the hash line on the stick.Whats happening is when I step on the gas, it doesnt accelerate for ****. this happens in forward reverse. Any ideas?

Sounds like you broke the pump. Pull a cooler line off and see if it is pumping.

An empty transmission and converter will need a lot more than 6 quarts...it should have sucked that down pretty quick unless like Vince stated, the pump is broken.

an empty tranny and converter will hold 12 corts...your prolly getting a reading from the extra fluid stuck in the dipstick tube...
also the linkage is adjustable...and the converter should have slid into the tranny 3 times...in further then further...bolt the trany up and the converter should ahve been about 1/4 inch from the flywheel...

your suppose to check the fluid when the car is in park and at full temp.
