Default cam help

i just bought the car and we pulled the motor to replace a bad head gasket. i kinda wanted to replace the cam while the motor was pulled. although im keeping the stock heads i am having them port and polished. when lookin at a cam i want daily driveability but still wake my car up. and when doing this change do i need to replace the lifters aswell? thanks

You don't need to replace the lifters with a non extreme cam, but you do have to replace pretty much all the other valvetrain components.

yeah the guys doing it are replacing the valves, springs, everything and milling the heads cause the drivers side was warped a bit. so if i just went with the lt4 hot cam i wouldnt need to replace the lifters? or how would the edelbrock performer plus 218/.525 run?

stock lifters would be fine for either of those

hotcam would be ok, but thats about it.
