Default Warped Rotors?

So when i first got my car about 6K miles ago i noticed when slowly braking the brakes were kinda grabby, almost like it was abs pumping on and off no matter what, a little hard to describe. I thought it was no big deal, being my first sports car i just thought hell they probably all do that. The other day i was messin around and got on the brakes from about 90mph though and the front end of the car shook pretty bad, i let off the brakes and everything was fine again.
Obviously the problem is caused by the braking system, but is it warped rotors? I'm gunna take the car in to get looked @ on sat. The car only has 27K miles on it and i dont get it up to speeds like that hardly at all. 95% is below 70. Anywhere from braking under 70mph is fine though. What problems could this cause if left unchanged?

idk, eventually ur brakes will be done. ye i had the exact problem. under 65 it was fine but at 90 it was bad. 99.9% ur rotors are warped. since you will get new rotors, its probably best to get pads too. Pads arn't too expensive so that shouldnt be a problem.

Do the rotors have any rust on them? That will also cause those symtoms, at least it did on my truck and a few other vehicles I've worked on. Does the steering wheel shake when you hit the brakes, if so it's defintally the front rotors being warpped.

Sounds like warped rotors to me. They will either need to be cut or replaced.

The front wheel does vibrate a bit.. yes. Should i get just new front rotors or all the way around. I would assume all 4's. Is this common for a vehicle with this many miles. I didnt think they shitted out so fast.

well for the miles, not really. But your previous owner probably braked hard. Also, yes get all 4's and replace the pads while you're at it.

my previous owner was a 50 yr. old woman. Literally. I've only braked it HARD once.. that was the one and only time i maxed out my car, and only because i didnt have enough room to ride out the speed. Will this cause any major problems if i let it go for a little while, in other words are my rotors going to snap and i'll crash and die in a fiery blaze if i don't get them replaced right away?

Yep, warped rotors. Even when you come up to a stop nice and easy you get a kind of lope. Not a smooth slow down.

ok.. i'll prob. just hold off for a while then, they barely squeek at all, only when stopping from 10 and below very lightly. i dont feel like buying sets of pads and rotors when i was getting ready to buy some LTs. I already got hit with an unexpected 170 bux worth of unpaid income tax from last yr.
Can't a guy just mow some lawns without the state throwin a bitch fit about a couple thousand i make over the summer

Wow I believe I have this as well. When i brake my car lunges forward then brakes, lunges forward then brakes, repeatedly until fully stopped and squeaks every so often. I always wonder what people think at lights, if I saw a car coming to a red light and it looked like what happens to me I'd think they kept releasing the brake and pushing down again like a retard

I just replaced some warped rotors on one of my daily drivers (cavalier). They were so bad, that when braking at expressway speeds, the car vibrated so hard I thought I was gonna hear the 8 second bell.

New rotors, new pads, and braking feels as smooth as glass.

Warped stock rotors are more of a common problem in 4th gens , it's very possible they're warped.

If you don't have the money to replace everything just take your front rotors off. It's really eaisy, you don't even need to remove the caliper from the bracket and take it to either a machine shop. Hell, when I did the brakes on my moms saturn I took them to O'riely's and they turned them both for $15 total. Honestly just having your front rotors turned will save you alot of $ right now, unless your rotors are heat spotted, then they may turn ok, buth the heat spots will come back. It's most likly your front rotors cause the front does somewhere around 60-75% of the breaking and warp more often than the rears. At the dealer I work at about 95% of the cars that come in for a brake pulsation or vibration is cause by the front rotors. Like I said before the biggest indication that it's your fronts is if your steering wheels shakes while breaking as well.

Mine's been doing this for a while. I first really noticed it when braking at 140 MPH. Yeah, I won't be doing that again until I get new brakes all the way around.

Been having the same problem too after 27k miles. I'm going to get all new rotors/pads when I buy my wheels here in about a month or so.

wait a minute... could be bearings going out! symptoms are almost the same. lift both tire off the ground or one at a time, grap wheel at 12 Oclock and 6 Oclock position and push one end while pulling the other end. if you feel any play then possible bad bearings remove wheel and inspect closer. and if indeed the brakes are warped then that can cause bearings to go bad and eat up the spindle/spindles and freeze bearings while driving car.... so do you see that it is wise not to drive car like that, not to mention if you cause an accident because something broke... all this is not worth it, so put them headers on hold and fix your car. NOW!!!! be safe bro....just think about it.

I definitely agree that the brakes should be fixed prior to moving on to other things.

It will improve the performance and most importantly the safety of your car.
