a little help please. There's a '01 Vette for sale for about 17 thousand which i think is a hell of a deal, but the thing is that it has 130,xxx miles on it. Its only had one owner and im just wondering if its worth it? please give me your thoughts.

i would say that car was around mid 15s as it has alot of miles.
there are lots of low mileage vettes especially around our area

if the body and interior is clean, take the money saved and mod the hell out of the motor, starting with a clean up bore etc. thats what i'd do. mine only has 17k on it and i dont think i could tear it open just yet, but you never know.

If you don't plan on a stroker or a rebuild in the near future, I'd look at another car. That's a lof of miles. Take our time and you will find a great with lower miles and it won't be to much more to buy. Goood luck.

 I agree. Good chance that they're highway miles which are typically less harmful than high traffic miles. If it's been super well maintained religiously, you may have a lot of life left. Kind of a crap shoot though. If you don't mind rebuilding, then go for it, but I'd try for a lower price. Good luck!

Thanks for your help!! So if I wear to do a full rebuild, how much would I be looking at?

You can always pick up low lilage LS1's for around $1800 and just swap that, a rebuild may cost more than that in some cases depending on what you want

I bought mine with 103K and am up to 121K in the 7 months I've had it without it skipping a beat. These are very good motors with tight tolerances. I personally don't think the 100K mile rule applies to these newer tech. motors anymore. There's a guy in my town spraying a 150 shot every friday on his 178K mile LS1 and another has 230K-ish miles on his 5.3 truck

BTW- I know another guy that got a 2000 Vette with 78K miles for 15K in town so there are always other deals out there
