This may be a dumb question, but does the bottle have to be empty to connect the Nitrous pressure sender to the bottle? Do you just unscrew the extra nut on the bottle? I know how to do all of this stuff. I just dont know what the first steps and precautions are.

Thanks,
Shane

If you're talking about the 1/8th" npt fitting on the side of the valve below the outlet, do not unscrew it when the bottle is full!

Here is a pic of the 1/8in fitting with two senders on my bottle, if it is where these senders are the bottle has to be empty. You can only install one after the valve in the feed line with the bottle full.

I'm talking about this fitting...

The one in the middle

Thats your blow down fitting, there is a ruture disc that will blow at 3000 PSI to release pressure should the bottle pressure get that high. DO NOT take that off when the bottle has any pressure on it.

Looks like you used all your ports, you have the Mainline and opposite the main line is the Blow down fitting, then looks like you have 2 (1/8" NPT) that have your bottle gauge, and your bottle heater pressure switch.

Assuming you want a remote pressure gauge, i would get a swivel gauge adapter and mount the remote pressure guage on the mainline. With the bottle valve closed you can easily add the swivel gauge adapter to the mainline.

Can I take the bottle gauge off without emptying the bottle? Would it be smart to leave it on and get an adapter so I can compare the cabin gauge with the bottle gauge? Can I empty the bottle and screw the gauge sender in the blow down fitting or should I just get a blowdown tube?

Alot of questions, I know, but I'm new to this.

The sender will fit in the spot for the bottle heater sender on the right hand side of that pic or the pressure gauge position on the left hand side of the first picture. The middle blow down fitting is not the same sized port and cannot be used. You definitely want to keep the middle fitting to keep the bottle from rupturing if something happens. You options are to buy a 1/8" splitter of some kind, like the one I have on my bottle or mount the sender in the feed line going towards the front of the car.

Option 1: If you get a splitter (Distribution Block) it will screw into either the left or right 1/8" npt fitting then then two of your accessories will screw into the splitter. Distibution Blocks can be found here http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog/models.asp?group=27&model=97&dept=11

If you go that route you still have to empty out the bottle but you will be able to read pressure even with the bottle closed. You will also need red loctite or teflon paste on all the 1/8" npt threads. Don'yt forget if you have a distribution block that has more than 2 outlets you will need a 1/8" NPT plug (http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog/product_details.asp?group=27&model=98&dept=11&product_id=2712) for each additional empty port.

Option 2: Install the sender in the main feed line, you will not have to empty the bottle, just close it. Before you unscrew the main feed line you need to purge out the leftover nitrous in the feed line and then unscrew it. You will need this fitting http://www.nitrousoutlet.com/catalog/product_details.asp?group=27&model=98&dept=11&product_id=2696 This fitting will screw onto the bottle in the same place you took off the main line and then the main line will screw into this fitting. You will not need any sealant because the AN fitting do not require them. Next screw your sender into the side of the fitting you bought ans wire it up. The sender does need sealant because it's a diffrent kind of fitting.

You will not be able to read pressure if the bottle is closed but you will not have to empty out the bottle to do this.

Dean, thanks for chiming in. You'll hear from me soon!

One last question...can I unscrew the bottle gauge and put the sender there? If so, does the bottle have to be empty?

You can put the sender where the guage was. You cannot unscrew anything out of the bottle valve ports when it has nitrous in it. If you use our adapter above you can change things with the bottle full. Just make sure the valve is closed!

Thanks dean. I'll order that part soon. I need a couple more ports anyways.
