Default High miles on my auto

Does anyone see a problem with putting a lower stall, say maybe 2500 or so on a 135k+ 4l6oe?Am i asking for trouble on the trans life?
Also, how much should i expect for labor on the install? The trans is in good condition as far as i know(no problems and shifts great)
Could a shift kit make it better for my autos life?I ordered some 3.73s and i think the stall would make it much funner to drive.

Transmission should be good but a 2500 stall would be pointless.A 3000 or 2800 at least. But if I where you and cash is a issue I would wait till the tranny took a **** and switch to a 350 or buy a built 4l60e.stalls(Yank or Vigilante) are great from what I heard.Prices of stalls Range from $400-700.Labor cost $300

So i could go 3000(about a 1k turnkey). Now would i be better off buying a built 4l60 or just getting my guts overhauled?thats somethin i dont know.I guess i was lookin to make some quick mods, to keep me fast till i go for the big price on a rear.Once i get 9" im looking to then look at the trans and pretty much,a new block.
I figured a stall and some gears would suit me, till the real parts start goin in.

I would get it rebuilt while your at it. Your only going to have to take it out again when then stall kills it.

Yes.....I think that might be a good idea. The way i drive the car isnt too abusive.I try to 100% launch on smooth surfaces and No 10 min burnouts.I dont see much track time yet.Its just a matter of time for that though.
I also drive about 2 miles to work 4 days a week.(10hr shifts)So its getting a mild beating occasionally.

As long as the trans is functioning properly then a shift kit will help performance as well as help to extend the life of the transmission. I strongly recommend the Trans Go shift kit.

Get at least a 3000 stall or don't even bother. I have a trans with 75K miles, 3500 stall, 24K cooler and I do at least 20 track passes a month during the race season. No issues here at all.

I paid $275 for install of the torque converter, $50 for install of the transmission cooler and $45 for a tune. The tune consisted of removing torque management, slightly raising line preasure and raising my shiftpoint/rev limiter. I didn't get a shift kit because I plan to replace the transmission with either a built 4L60E that comes with one all ready installed or a 4L80E.

If I were you I would get a 3400-3600 stall (if you get smaller there is a 99% chance you will later regret it), big transmission cooler and either a shift kit or PCM tune like I did. Then enjoy the car, save up for a new tranny and when the 4L60E dies replace it with one built by FLT, Performabuilt or Rossler.

Good luck.

Very good choice. Not only does Performabuilt not require a core but they offer a layaway plan. You might consider skipping the shift kit and just doing a pcm tune. Then put a Performabuilt 4L60E on layaway. Make whatever payment is comfortable each month and then when it's paid off they'll ship it to you.

No matter which level of 4L60E you buy it'll have a shift kit in it all ready. And if the stock 4L60E is still working then just sell it here or on ebay. It'll help pay for labor costs. Just don't sit on the performabuilt trans because the one year warranty starts once you receive it.
