Need Help! ASAP! Desired Tuning Frequency for Ported Enclosures??
Hey guys, I'm in the middle of building a ported subwoofer enclosure right now. I am going onto the subwoofer calculator websites to determine how long/wide the port should be but then it asks for a "desired tuning frequency". I don't know what is best.
So far, here is my box:
Height - 13"
Width - 36"
Depth - 8"
Which gives me a total of 1.49 cubic inches of space. The recommended area for a ported enclosure for this sub is 1.2-3.1.
The idea for the subwoofer came from the Subthump"s Dual Enclosures for the Rear. Only I got one subwoofer on the left side and an amp on the other, I made it long because I don't have that much clearance underneath the base. So what tuning frequency should I submit????
Thanx guys!

What sub is it? Are you looking more for SPL or SQ?
I'd go with between 30-35Hz. (maybe 25-30 for more SQ, 35-48 for SPL)
Be safe, go with 33Hz.
EDIT: the sub and the exact box volume would help greatly

I'd go for 32hz. Should be good for an SQL system.
A lot of those calculators don't work very well. You can design your own port using the jl tutorials webpage:
