Just got new 3.73s to go with my auto 10 bolt car, they are made by motive....it says break in period required, but not how long? Whats the best way to break them in, and how long, before I begin once a week bracket racing?

just did the exact same thing my man.....a good break in...also gm recommended...

250 miles in increments of 50 miles at a time...let them heat treat...run it for 50 miles then let it cool down and so on until 250....then drain fluid and....for good measure....do it once again and your good to go

Same procedure for a 9"?

I just intstalled my 9" and for the life of me I cant get ahold of Scott @ DLS to get a proper break in procedure... nor can I get the damn search function to work.

Here's what I believe he told me. Do NOT use synthetic for the break-in.

First drive: Only a couple miles, no launching, no speed/power shifting, nothing over 65mph. Let cool for a couple hours.

Second drive: Make it more like 20ish miles, again no launching/speed/power shifting, and still nothing over 65mph. Let cool over night.

Next 250 miles: no hard launching or shifting hard still, but you can take it on the highway. After this its your choice to drain the fluid or not (I would recommend to do it though he didn't seem to imply it was terribly important).

After this you should be good to go and beat the hell out of it. :)

did any of your gears whine in the 9"?

I've done the first couple drives in mine, and it seems to make a VERY VERY slight whine around 30-40mph. Barely audible, and I'm very sensitive to gear noise. With the radio on at any level you can't hear it. No noise on the highway, only took it slightly over 60 for a few seconds to see if there was any noise up there. I'll find out more tomorrow when I start driving it a bit more since it should be safe to take on the highway.
