Default Free Rev at 5,000+ RPM (INSIGHT NEEDED)

Alright, I'm a real newbie here, and this was an issue i wasn't able to find in any other previous threads, so figured I'd post my own and see if anybody might have some insight here. Recently purchased a new transmission, had it tuned by a friend with HPTuners and everything was great until just this afternoon (race day). Not sure why, but in every gear at approximately 5,000 RPM... the motor free revs. Doesn't matter if I'm in D, or manually shifting through each gear. Prior to that 5,000 mark, the car pulls hard and seems fine... but I hit 5,000, it free revs. I try shifting with it in that RPM range... it free revs... shift again, free rev. Not until I bring the RPM's back down will it re-engage and accelerate again. Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance to all those that respond.
