Question How much boost would you run on SCAT rods (w/ARP bolts)???

Subject says it all....

Doing 383/Super Charger build and i wanted to hit it with 5 - 7 pounds of boost (w/alky). Will the Scat rods handle it???

Any help appreciated...

Are the Scat rods H-beams?

If so, they will take much more abuse than 5 - 7 psi.

A little boost isn't going to kill rods, engine speed (high RPMs) is going to kill rods. Scat rods will be 110% up to the job, as long as you stick around the stock 6200-6500rpm redline.

Thanks for the info...

I plan on a small blower cam/Maggie-OR-KB (w/alky)/383 setup... no high revs planned...

Its easy to figure it out, keep turning it up a little until one bends or breaks. Then run 2psi less then that when you put it back together

Don't laugh, but I would like this to be my last round of mods for a while... and actually get to drive the car...

boost wont break rods, and boost wont break rod bolts....

rpm's will though. Keep them sensible, and Im sure you can make as much power as you want with them without worrying.

If I wanted to build a motor to spin up around 7000 to 7300 or so, will the scat or callies compstar rods work?

I'm turning 7k on my Compstar rods without any problems. I beat the **** out of my motor, too. They're a quality piece according to my research and my fairly brief (5k miles, 75 track passes) experience.

Either will work fine.
The bolt upgrade on the Scat rods is cheap insurance for big RPM's.
