Default Clutch Selection.

I just went through a Spec Stage 3 like it was nothing. Time for a new clutch. THe LS7 sounds good, and the Textralia and the Kartech. Any suggestions??

Brad seems pretty happy with the LS7 I put in his car and I like how it feels more OEM. How many miles did you put on it? Anything get on the disc that ruined it maybe?

About 4000 miles. I replaced it twice already. The clutch looked like it took a hard beating when I did some hard launches with nitrous. It just started slipping on me. I am guessing I'll be at 475-500 hp here with around 600 tq. You think the LS7 can handle that much? Thats not even mentioning spray.

Hmmm, may want to go more heavy duty. Others may chime in with some thoughts but I have heard good things about the Textrilla Exoskel.

This one may hold up alright too...

there are a handfull of GTO's running 500+ rwhp on LS7 clutches, and seem to be pretty happy

I'm in the same boat (power wise)
I'm leaning towards the LS7 swap
figure 2 for the price of the mccleoud, and alot less than a rear end

Ya man i love my LS7.. but i think if your hitting that much power every now and then you shoud be ok. so if you don't have the money it should at least get you more then 4k miles with it.

Have heard lots of people say the spec clutches dont hold out very long. Some blame it on improper user breakin or improper use, not saying that is the case here though! I was considering one down the road until I heard about the short lifespan of them and decided against it.

Have read the Textralia is really good, comes from down under, and a lot of the products for the cars I see from there seem to hold up to the rep they have down there.

LS7 I have heard is "heavy" and have no idea what that means... if it is anything like a stock I am sure I would go with it next. I am curious to know what kind I have, almost 15k on it now since I bought the car and from what we were told it was a used clutch also, still holding up to the abuse! Does constantly chatter though.

Sorry!

Might check in the manual section and ask there. Isn't there a poll asking this same kind of thing between these clutches also? Look for someone with a similar build/power numbers maybe and ask them how they like theirs.?

Think I am going with the LS7 clutch for this year. Next year I'll upgrade along with the tranny.

Isn't it the cartek clutch? Anyway after using a tex and not being real happy with it I consulted Ellis and Tom the Mcleod street twin hasnt disapointed at all. Cant imagine usng anything else after feeling the grip on this thing. It doesnt slip, even if your trying to slip it. It just grabs and doesnt let go.

The ls7 clutches don't even hold the stock 435rwhp on the new C6 Z06, the concensus from the new Z06 owners is they are junk. I would not waste my money on one if ya are going to be spraying. Textralia all the way. Mine chattered for a bit, however, the secret (Mark) is to do an off idle start, don't add any rpm's like we did the stocker until it sarts moving, no slipping needed (for street driving).
Anyone running an ls7 clutch, just try doing a hot lap or two, and/or try launching above about 3800rpm, not a race type clutch, but good enough if your staying on the porch with grandma.

I agree with the Textralia. I wondered at first if I was going to like this clutch, its such a tight **** when new. I went to the track and did some 5K launches and now it's smooth as glass! It performed like a champ, this clutch ROCKS!
