Default Anyone notice harder shifting after Mobil1 trans fluid? Just me?

Maybe it's me, but I've had a harder time getting it into gears since changing to the Mobil1 ATF. It could just be my imagination, but the fluid that came out looked brand new. I'm beginning to think my buddy with a shop was right when he said run the cheapest trans fluid you can get, just change it on time.

I know the chance is small, but were you sure you put enough in there?

Some people complain about it...I never had an issue with it personally.

The mobil 1 is one of the best fluids you can use. We have had numerous customers tell us it shifts better after using it. Maybe it was a little low in fluid?

No, I put about 3 3/4 quarts in. It could be the fact that I expected "better" shifting when mine has a short handle on a stock shifter assembly, which is just stupid. I guess I'll wait on judgement until I put a Pro 5.0 in it.

I heard it leaves to much on the blocker rings causing it to shift harder. My personal experience....I tried it, indeed shifted notchier and harder so i drained it and put cheap dextron III in it and it was fine.

That's what I'm getting to ready to do. I'll save the Mobil fluid just in case. It was the only Mobil1 syn ATF at Autozone, I would think it should be fine. Cheap Dexron 3 here I come.

Well, it has gotten worse. It's hard to get into gear when stopped now. Walmart Supertech fluid going in today.

The transmission fluid should have little impact on getting the car in gear when stopped...that sounds like a clutch hydraulic issue.

if anything, going to a thicker dexron 3 generic fluid only made a difference when cold for my transmission. Even then, it only felt a bit more notchy. For the life of me I can't tell the difference between oem dexron 3, amsoil, mobil 1 etc. Next change I'll just go with mobil 1.

Shifting smooth as glass again. I seem to remember reading in GMHTP a few years back about synthetic trans fluid issues in these transmissions not working very well. Now I know why. Maybe it does well in one with carbon fiber parts.

I ran the regular ole dex III in mine for several thousand miles. Last weekend went to our local LS1 shop and was talking to the owner about it as they are one of the ones that even recommended reg tranny fluid. He told me they had been using Royal Purple in the T56's and had really good luck and reviews with it.

I changed mine out due to the notchy shifting, it is 10x better now as the tranny shifts smoother than it did under the original factory tranny.

I am running a Lou's short stick and the factory Hurst shifter and it shifts great now.

RP may be good, but I'm leaving good enough alone until it's due.
