What would make a converter not lock on dyno?

Default What would make a converter not lock on dyno?

The guy I got my trans from said when they dynoed his car they could not get it to lock. Why?

The converter should never lock under WOT unless you put in a manual lockup switch. But you need to make sure your converter is rated to hold under WOT. Stock converters are not made to hold under WOT.

The lock-up clutches are designed for low torque demand cruising and are not capable of handling WOT power.The computer prevents lock-up clutch engagement at a certain torque level demand.
