Unhappy wont upshift @ WOT 2-3, 3-4

well i have a 94 Camaro Z28 A4 and at WOT the car just bounces off the rev limiter untill i let off a bit then it shifts from 2-3 and 3-4. anyone know what is causing this? It never did this untill i installed the Hypertech PP 3 so i went back with the stock tune and it still does it. anyone else have this problem? car shifts fine when driving it normal. some help please!

That's strange it didn't go away when putting the tune back to stock. More reason I will never hook my hypertech back up. Check your tranny fluid and make sure it's not running dry, or too much.

I had this problem a while back. How many miles on the transmission? Usually a rebuild will fix this.

sounds like u have a tranny issue... check your fluid see if it is burnt.... usally under WOT more pressure is created and if your clutch packs are toast they will slip. so either u are loosing line pressure from a broken spring or accumalator possibly in the valve body. but it sounds like a line pressure issue.

The 3-4? What the hell speed are you going that you shift into O.D. at WOT?

If I read it right you aren't far from stock and have the 2.73s...

Don't go changing tranny fluid and rebuilding stuff right yet! start with the cheap stuff. Get your ignition controll module and coil tested (O'Reilly's, Autozone, etc...), replace the throttle position sensor (or if you can get it tested?), check the fuel filter, check the fuel pressure, plug wires, etc... My buddy's '94 was doing this, and after replacing the opti (read: expensive) and flushing the tranny, we tried these things and walla, it worked! Good luck man!

i took it in today and a tranny shop said that the fluid was burnt and there were some metal shavings in the pan. also the fluid was high. he leveled off the fluid to the correct amount and gave me back the car now it is way worse than when i took it in.....it slips through everygear......man i am so mad.......has anyone bought a tranny off ebay? its alot cheaper than having a shop do it.

I'm tellin' ya man, replace the TPS and see what happens, if it don't work you're out a big whoppin' $30 as opposed to the cost of a new tranny. The burnt fluid was probably a result of the level being too high, and some metal shavings in the pan isn't uncommon for older transmissons (or so my friend was told). My buddies car was doing exaclty the same thing, and after a transmission shop replaced the pressure solenoid and flushed it out (to no avail), we tried the cheap solutions and it worked. Save yourself some money and give it a try...

Or measure the TPS to see if the reading is off.

If i remember right you said it had around 110k on it...about the same time my valve body took a nose dive, mine did the same thing(tagging the rev limiter and not shifting) and it all happend after the Hypercrap went in....I had mine pulled after being told the valve body was bad and bought a stock Tranny off E-bay from a shop in Flordia with 20k miles on it for $300 still in the car till I can get around to building a stage 2 or 3 tranny...for future ref...keep the Hypercrap tune off...car runs better without it anyway

Mine did the same thing .I hate to say it,but I rebuilt mine with TCI rebuild kit and a bigger TCI boost valve and now it shifts hard enough to spin the tires at full throtle 2-3. maybe you could try just the boost valve , it cost about $25 and is not that hard to change.

Mine does the exact same thing. Only on 1-2 and 2-3. I have to let off the gas for it to shift or it just hits the limiter and doesnt shift. I have a performabuilt level 2 on layaway. And if im around 5000 when if shifts from 1-2 the whole car shakes until i let off the gas. Does yours do this?

if its slipping its a tranny problem. it may be a solenoid not working right, slipping clutches, or a valve body issue.
