Default TR224 cam which heads 862 or 241?!?!?!?

I plan on getting the TR224 cam and wonder which heads would work better for my setup.

I have a 00 TA A4 4000k stall, 3.73's, pacesetter LT's, SLP lid & maf.

I plan on milling the heads about .030 over and want to get 11's. Which head would be better for my plans, or should I just get some 243's?

Thanks in advance.

I heard that the 5.3 heads (862) will boost compression up but they dont flow as good as the ls1 heads for some reason. Is this true or was I miss informed?

I was going to mill the 241's .030 to boost the compression and keep the same flowing head, but I dont know if I will run in PTV problems. I have a extra set of stock ls1 head at my disposal, or should I buy some 243's?

Given those three options, I'd snag some 243s. The truck heads have smaller valves, and they do flow less. The LS1 heads will be outperformed by the LS6 heads.

Did you change the valves, or just used stock 5.3 heads?

Man, I'd really recommend against using a 5.3L head with stock valves. Just mill your 241s .030" and you'll be near the size of a 5.3L and still clear a 224 cam.

thanks. Also if I plan on porting the heads a little bit would it matter if I get 241 or 243's? just curious how much better the 241's flow than the 243's.

Go with the 243s. Better ports to start with.

You got that backwards I think. The 243 flow better than the 241. If you already have the 241 and there milled, I would just stick with thows. Your not going to see alot more power with the 243 and that small of a cam.
